Walking Tennis

A new version of the game, Walking Tennis is launching across the county this summer.

Played at a more gentle pace and with a slower ball, Walking Tennis is ideally suited to those who just need a little more time getting to the ball, as well as those who are perhaps living with an illness or recovering from an injury.

Walking tennis follows the same scoring system and rules as the regular game with two exceptions - no running or jumping, and the ball can bounce twice. Other than that it's the same exciting game of tactics, positioning and ball play.

A number of tennis clubs are already holding regular Walking Tennis sessions. These include: Brosely Church Stretton, Claverley, Ludlow Castle, Market Drayton, Shifnal, Shrewsbury Lawn and Wem. The Cathy Stabin Community Tennis Centre in Shrewsbury is also holding regular sessions working with Age UK. Watch this space - more clubs offering Walking Tennis will be listed soon!
