Junior Tennis
Learn Tennis For Life!
Many local clubs across Shropshire have Junior Programmes led by Accredited Coaches who will introduce younger first time players to tennis and then develop their game. Entry level programmes are available for youngsters aged 3-12 with modified racquets, nets, and softer tennis balls. You can be sure your child is gaining confidence and sports skills while making new friends.
LTA Coaching
LTA Accredited coaches run courses for children aged 4-18, packed full of fun games and dynamic training.

Playing tennis at school is often a child's first experience of the game and so we work with primary, secondary and SEN schools across the county to give as many children as possible the opportunity to play.
The LTA Youth Schools initiative is free and schools can access £250 which can be used for coaching or equipment.
We also work with clubs and coaches to build strong links between schools and clubs so that children who enjoy the sport have a pathway to develop their game further. We are very happy to support any schools who would like to offer tennis to their pupils and can also offer advice and support to clubs and coaches on how best to develop a tennis programme in their local school.

Tennis Cadets and Futures
Tennis Shropshire runs a very successful Tennis Cadets and Futures programme. This is aimed at young people between the ages of 14-to-19 years old and is free for those taking part, although there is a cost for some courses which bring their own qualifications.
The programme consists of 6 sessions of on court training covering subjects such as competition organisation, first aid, accessible tennis, support for open days, safeguarding and major events. There is also a requirement for participants to volunteer at Tennis Shropshire events, helping to promote tennis in the county.
Young people who successfully complete the course and achieve their volunteering hours are subsidised in completing their level 1 coaching course.
As well as tennis related elements the programme gives participants an opportunity to develop life skills such as effective communication, teamwork, planning and organisation. It's ideal for anyone interested in pursuing a career in tennis or in sports generally. It's also suitable for young people who simply want to expand their experience and add something to their CV.

Safeguarding
Tennis Shropshire is committed to prioritising the well-being of all children, and adults at risk from harm. We promote safeguarding at all times, across all the programmes and events we run.
Activities, events and trips arranged by the county association are run in accordance with the LTA's Safeguarding at Events and Competitions guidance. This Policy strives to minimise risk, deliver a positive tennis experience for everyone, and respond appropriately to all safeguarding concerns/disclosures.
All LTA registered clubs have welfare officers who are responsible for ensuring that the club has policies and procedures in place which promote a culture of safeguarding vulnerable adults as well as children.
