Adult Tennis
Tennis is a sport which can be played at any age and you are never too old to learn! A lot of people playing in Shropshire only picked up a racket for the first time as an adult and there are many examples of people who started in their 50s and 60s. It's a great way to get fit and make friends and can be played all year round, indoors and outdoors. So if you are thinking about playing tennis for the first time, or getting back into the sport - what are you waiting for? Visit our 'Improve' section for help in what to do next.
Most clubs organise 'social tennis' session events with groups of mixed ability which is a great way of meeting people to play with - you can find a club near you. You may decide that you want to stick with social tennis and that's fine. However if you have a competitive streak most clubs will take part in regular competitions, both internally and externally against other Shropshire clubs. You don't have to be a superstar to compete in these since both clubs and county leagues cater for a wide range of abilities.
Further information on local, county and other competitions can be found in the 'Compete' section of this website.
The LTA has lists of countrywide tournaments and leagues for the more adventurous player.
